Waterlilies

I rarely venture into the garden, but as of late, my parents have been laboriously planting new plants and sprucing it up. Today, I took a walk in the garden, and was rewarded with these.

On a side note: Pictures from the surprise party are still in the works! and Happy Vesak Day!

I just got back from the best semi-surprise birthday party ever at Chiara’s! I’ll blog about that another day, when I get the pictures from Wenkien again.

This post is about my birthday lunch at Pepperoni’s, a cosy Italian eatery tucked away in Greenwood Ave. After some confusion about the meeting time and such, we all straggled in, and began lunch at about two, an hour after we were supposed to meet. We shared a ginormous 21inch pizza with Vegetarian and Suprema toppings, and 2 servings of the excellent Squid Ink pasta. Joshua, Pooj and I decided to treat ourselves by having cocktails at lunch as well. Joshua was tremendously excited about his Screaming Orgasm shot =P We also had a lot of fun drawing on the paper on the table with the crayons that were provided.

The pasta was as good as I remembered it to be, and the thin crusted pizza laden with toppings was extremely satisfying as well.

I enjoyed the quiet surroundings as well, far away from the hype and madness of the Great Singapore Sale in the major shopping districts. That it was a quiet Saturday afternoon gave us enough space to hang around for hours and hours, taking pictures, walking around and talking as loudly as we liked.

It’s probably time to move on from the big loss of my blog data (although Lawrence did mention that the server company said that it would cost us usd150 to restore the information), and what better way to mark a new beginning than with a Birthday!

Yesterday, I celebrated my 22nd Birthday with a simple lunch and dinner with friends and family. Pictures from lunch at Pepperoni’s will come later, as I’m still waiting for Wenkien the SLR-camera man to upload his higher quality photos. I’m still looking forward to the BBQ at Chiara’s later this evening =)

Yesterday evening, I had dinner with my family at Mimolette, this cosy restaurant tucked away in a little corner off Eng Neo Avenue near the horse stables. We got a table outside where we got to enjoy the cool night breeze, and the smell of the greenery from the wilderness in the surrounding area, which was splendid. I tried taking pictures of our food, especially the Butternut Pumpkin soup which I had (rich, thick and flavourful) and my Duck Confit (a duck leg fried in its own fat!), and our Brandied Chocolate cake dessert (tasted exactly like my Chocolate Lava cake), but it was simply too dark for the pictures to turn out nicely. Instead, we will have to make do with more pictures of me with my family.

My parents successfully tricked me into believing that they had forgotten to collect my cake from Le Patissier in the afternoon. I ordered the Passionfruit Meringue (absolutely delish!) about one week ago, since both of them hadn’t tried it yet. When we got home after dinner, they surprised me with the cake, and I got to do my ritualistic birthday wishing and candle blowing after all. I am too gullible.

I don’t know if it is obvious from the lighting in these pictures, but I also recently dyed my hair a dark mahogany brown =) Joshua and Pooj says that I now look light enough to float, but I’m skeptical. =P

all gone.

I regret to say that all the pictures and prose on my blog from July 07-May 08 have been erased by a database error from the owner of the database this blog is on. Unfortunately, these months of memories can’t be retrieved or rewritten. Devastating, really, considering the amount of time I put into each post. Will probably be continuing with new posts as I go along, perhaps not too soon, since there’s a few Orthopaedics exams coming up. Stay tuned.
